Wait, Does Florida Really Have a Ren Fair?
Florida absolutely has a Ren Fair, but we call it the Florida Renaissance Festival, and it’s more thrilling than watching a knight’s duel with a dragon protecting its hoard of gold!
The festival takes place in the fictional Village of Kimmendale and features more than 100 performers to entertain attendees and over 100 artisans selling their goods.
The festival grounds include rides suitable for adults and children of all ages including the Ship Ride and Flying Carousel.
You’ll find opportunities to show off your medieval talents in assorted contests of both chance and skill including:
- Jacob’s Ladder for those in a hurry to embarrass themselves and entertain bystanders
- Pirate Ring Toss
- The Daring Barrel Ride and Crows Nest
- King’s Tower Rock Wall
- Jester’s Jump Bungee Jump
Entertainment abounds at the Florida Renaissance Festival, and there’s excitement around every corner. How Long is the Florida Renaissance Festival?
The Ren Fest takes place during weekends only from February 3rd – March 24th, 2024 which lets them deliver 8 weekends of amazing and greatly varied fun to adventure seekers in south Florida. (Amazing and varied fun also happens all the time in MINI Cooper Convertibles!)
The Festival’s website clarifies that only Saturdays and Sundays count as weekends in Kimmendale, so don’t show up early on Friday looking to party just because you got off work an hour early! (They’re working extremely hard on the weekends just like our Braman MINI of Miami sales team!)
Each weekend is themed in 2024’s Ren-Fest and their fun schedule breaks out like this:

Weekend 2 – Star Crossed Lovers – Romance and Love Letters!
Weekend 3 – Odin’s Wrath – Vikings, Dragons, and Trolls… Oh my!

Weekend 6 – Scoundrels of the High Seats – The Pirates be Coming!

Weekend VIII – Into the Woods – A Fairytale Finale!

The festival grounds open at 10 AM with the crowing of a terribly lazy rooster each day and the gates of the magical property close with the setting of the sun. Late arrivals will only be served cold turkey legs for lunch, and stragglers after sunset may spend time locked in the stocks or a pillory, so banish the dreaded delays and say farewell with finesse.
(It is – after all - terribly difficult to shift gears in a MINI Cooper with a manual transmission if your ankles are tender after spending an evening in stocks!)
What’s the Biggest Renaissance Fair in the US?
South Florida is proud to host the excellent event we all know as the Florida Renaissance Festival and, as far as we’re concerned, it’s exactly the right size! The festival takes place at Quiet Waters Park located at 401 S. Powerline Road in Deerfield Beach, and that entire park covers 430 acres! (No, it’s not 430 acres of jousting, mead guzzling, axe throwing, and renaissance tomfoolery but attendees have a fantastic time!)
If you’re looking to maximize your Renaissance Festival experience, go big in a medieval way: grab a gigantic turkey leg from Promenade Fun Foods, pick up a savory and sweet stuffed baked potato, jump on the Giant Rocking Horse, yell ARR at a pirate, buy a flagon or three of ale, explore the Giant Maze, figure out just what the Hurlinator is, purchase a new cloak, climb up to big heights in the Crow’s Nest, toss a coin to any Witchers you pass, watch trebuchets hurl large objects, be shocked at the size of some exotic birds with the help of the Knightwings, test the heft of a good battle axe, be dwarfed next to a jousting steed with assistance from the team at Debracey Productions, and see if you can score an audience with big man himself – King Robert.
The Festival’s entertainment schedule is expansive, so make sure to decide whether you most want to experience Rota Temporis, The Lady Gisselle, Pirate’s Creed, the Dijan Tie African Dancers, the Kamikaze Fireflies, Jacques ze Whipper, Thom Bedlam, Arthur Greenleaf Holmes, Opal the Bubble Fairy, or one of the many other acts which can be taken in during a visit to Kimmendale.
There is a Renaissance Festival in Texas that (of course) lays claim to being the largest renaissance faire in the land, but we thoroughly enjoy our Florida Renaissance Festival as it is.
